Who can judge at Region 1 & State SEF?
Any individual that is willing to help judge projects is always appreciated. To ensure the highest
scientific standards we do ask that all judges have the following qualifications:
K-6th Grade Projects - successfully (B or higher) completed one Junior/Senior HS level science class
7th-8th Grade Projects - successfully (B or higher) completed one college level science class
9th-12th Grade Projects (Regional and State) - successfully completed (B or higher)one graduate level science class
USM Upper Fair - Feb 15, 2019
USM Lower Fair - Apr 15, 2019
As of September 2014, the Region 1 will use the Intel ISEF judging criteria.

Here is a shortened judging rubric:
I. Research Question - 10pts
II. Design & Methodology - 15pts
III. Execution - 20pts
a. For Science Projects: Data collection, analysis & interpretation
b. For Engineering Projects: Construction & testing
IV. Creativity - 20pts
V. Presentation - 35pts
a. Poster -10pts
b. Interview - 25pts
All projects go through a Safety and Display check before the fair. If Judges think there is something displayed that should not be, please contact SEF Staff IMMEDIATELY.
Passes and Instructions will emailed two days prior to the fair.
